Relocation Downtime Planner

Estimate the expected downtime and total cost of relocating your equipment or factory.

Relocation phases, in hours

extra time for unexpected delays

Costs

e.g. lifting equipment rental, subcontracting

Result: relocation downtime and cost

0 h
Total phase duration (without buffer)
0 h
Expected downtime (with buffer)
0 €
Production downtime cost
0 €
Total relocation cost
⚠️ Every relocation is different — actual duration depends on equipment complexity, transport route and the readiness of the new site. A larger buffer (20–30%) is wise if you have no prior experience with a similar move.

How the calculation works

The planner counts the hours of four phases: dismantling, transport, installation, and testing and start-up. You also set a contingency buffer as a percentage. Total time = sum of phases × (1 + buffer). Downtime cost = total time × downtime cost per hour, with transport and labour costs added to the total cost.

Example: phases of 16 + 8 + 24 + 8 = 56 h and a 20% buffer give 67.2 h. At EUR 250/h the downtime cost is EUR 16,800, and with EUR 3,000 transport and EUR 5,000 labour the total is EUR 24,800.

Frequently asked questions

How big should the buffer be?

It depends on the age of the machine, narrow points on the transport route and experience with similar relocations. The less you know, the bigger the buffer.

Can the downtime be shortened?

Yes – parallel crews, prior mapping, labelled connections and a ready new site speed up a relocation.

Does the tool replace a relocation plan?

No, it gives a first estimate. We prepare the exact plan after a site visit.
