Wood Shavings Collection System Installation at a Woodworking Plant

At a woodworking plant’s production facility, the wood shavings collection system installed next to the plywood sheet lifter was causing problems. The collection bins were located high up, next to the fans, which made emptying them an awkward and time-consuming task for maintenance technicians. In addition, the collection bins had no dust filters, so fine wood dust was constantly released into the air of the production hall and degraded the working environment.

The solution was designed and the necessary materials were supplied by a partner company, while the Maintest Grupp OÜ team was responsible for the installation and construction work. New collection separators were built and installed on the floor, and the exhaust air was directed through dust bags, which significantly reduces the amount of wood dust entering the production hall. Because the work had to be carried out on the client’s plant maintenance day, the entire installation had to be completed within one long working day so as not to disrupt the production process the following day.

Thanks to the new solution, the client can now conveniently clear the wood shavings from a collection bin located on the floor, instead of climbing on top of the machines to empty bins. This frees up maintenance technicians’ time, which can now be directed more than before to work that is more critical for production. The air in the production hall is also noticeably cleaner, as significantly less fine wood dust is released into the environment than before.

We have installed similar collection separators on the client’s production equipment before, and experience shows that the solution has proven itself well in production and the client is satisfied with the result. This confirms that well-thought-out installation and construction work, where each party has a clear role, helps improve both working conditions and the efficiency of maintenance work on the production line, without requiring a prolonged production shutdown.

  • Gema Powder Coating Equipment Maintenance at a Metalworking Plant

Gema Powder Coating Equipment Maintenance at a Metalworking Plant

A company engaged in the surface treatment of metal products needed regular maintenance for its Gema OptiFlex 2 Q manual powder coating gun. The smooth operation of a powder coating line depends largely on the condition of the manual gun: worn hoses and contaminated components can affect spray performance and the quality of the final result. The customer therefore decided to contact the Gema equipment representative to order professional maintenance. Through them, Maintest Grupp OÜ received the order to carry out the work.

Our technicians performed a thorough service of the OptiFlex 2 Q manual gun. During the work, the unit’s hoses were replaced. They are among the most heavily worn parts of powder coating equipment, and their condition directly affects the stability of the spraying process. In addition to the replacement, a general inspection of the equipment was carried out, during which all key components and connections were checked.

At the end of the service, we tested and took measurements on the equipment to verify that all parameters were correct and that the unit was operating properly. The checks showed that the equipment is in full working order after the service and meets the required specifications.

The entire job, from the initial inspection to the final testing, took 2 hours and 23 minutes. Thanks to regular maintenance, the customer can continue production with confidence, knowing that the powder coating equipment works reliably and as planned.

The purpose of this kind of maintenance is to prevent major breakdowns and production downtime that can result from worn parts or neglected equipment. Regular inspection and timely replacement of spare parts help extend equipment life and ensure uninterrupted operation of production lines. Maintest Grupp OÜ offers its partners and industrial companies exactly this kind of preventive and prompt maintenance service, which keeps equipment in working order and avoids unexpected production stoppages.

  • Relocating a CNC Wood Milling Machine at a Wood Plant in Tallinn

Relocating a CNC Wood Milling Machine at a Wood Plant in Tallinn

A woodworking company in Tallinn faced a challenge: a heavy, bulky CNC wood milling machine had to be moved promptly from one production workshop to another. Relocating this type of equipment requires special care. The wrong approach can compromise the machine’s accuracy and operational safety, and can also halt production for longer than necessary.

The Maintest Grupp OÜ team solved the task using radio-controlled transport wheels, which made it possible to move the heavy CNC machine in a controlled and precise manner, without bringing in lifting equipment or cranes. This solution reduced the risk of damage to the machine and the workshop floor, and allowed the layout to be adapted to the spatial conditions of the new location.

The entire relocation took 3 hours. Thanks to a prompt and professional approach, the client was able to free up the required production area quickly, and the CNC milling machine at the new location was ready for use immediately. This solution shows how, with the right tools and experience, even complex production line relocations can be carried out with minimal downtime and without additional risk to the equipment.

  • Collaborative Palletizing Robot for a Metalworking Company in Tallinn

Collaborative Palletizing Robot for a Metalworking Company in Tallinn

A metalworking company based in Tallinn wanted to reduce the manual workload of its employees and make the pallet-building process faster and more efficient. Under the previous work arrangement, specialists had to physically build pallets from boxes weighing up to 35 kilograms in order to dispatch orders. This was heavy and time-consuming work that strained employees and slowed down the production process.

Maintest Grupp OÜ took on the task of finding a solution and carried out the project in cooperation with Maimach OÜ. A collaborative palletizing robot was installed at the company, together with an accompanying electric conveyor system. The solution was designed to fit the existing production line and to take over precisely those work steps that were physically the most demanding for employees.

The project took 4 months to complete, during which both the collaborative robot and the conveyor system were installed and configured, ensuring smooth integration into the client’s production process. As a result, the company’s order-picking specialists no longer have to lift and manually build heavy pallets themselves. The collaborative robot does this work for them, freeing up employees’ time and energy for more complex and more valuable tasks.

The project proved successful and showed the client that robotization is the right direction for automating its production processes. This example shows how well-considered cooperation between technical partners can bring real benefits: reducing physical strain, increasing work efficiency and laying the foundation for further automation steps. Maintest Grupp will continue to offer similar solutions to companies that want to make their production more modern and more employee-friendly.

  • Cardboard and Plastic Film Baler Repair at a Plant in Harju County

Cardboard and Plastic Film Baler Repair at a Plant in Harju County

A manufacturing company in Harju County had a problem with a cardboard and plastic film baler used as a waste press, which is part of its daily production process. It started when the machine’s cable got caught between the wheels, causing the machine to stop working. The company’s in-house electrician tried to fix the fault, but after the repair he carried out, smoke started coming from the control panel and the machine no longer responded to anything.

In this situation, the company turned to Maintest Grupp OÜ for help. Our technicians began thorough troubleshooting and found that the cables had been connected incorrectly during the earlier repair. The cables were reconnected correctly, but the machine still did not start.

Since correcting the connections alone did not solve the problem, we carried out additional troubleshooting with measurements to identify the exact cause of the fault. The measurements showed that the bridge rectifier and a capacitor had been damaged. These components were replaced with new ones, after which the machine was tested.

All of the work, including troubleshooting, correcting the connections, additional diagnostics and replacing the components, was completed within one working day. As a result, the client got back a fully operational waste press, which is once again in use in the company’s production process.

This example clearly illustrates why it is important for equipment repairs to be carried out by experienced specialists: a repair done incorrectly can cause a bigger fault than the original problem. Maintest Grupp OÜ technicians identify the true cause of a fault through systematic troubleshooting and measurements, rather than settling for a superficial fix. Thanks to this, we were able to help the client quickly and efficiently, avoiding prolonged equipment downtime.
