Request an equipment condition assessmentHow the calculation works
Age = current year − installation year. Effective life = expected life × condition factor (good ×1.15, average ×1.0, poor ×0.8). Remaining time = effective life − age (not below zero); lifecycle share = age ÷ effective life. Annual reserve = replacement cost ÷ remaining time. The result is a lifecycle stage: early, mid-life, nearing end or at end of life.
Example: installed in 2015, expected life 15 years, average condition and a replacement cost of EUR 150,000 give an age of 11 years, 4 years remaining, a reserve of EUR 37,500 a year and a share of 73.3%, i.e. “mid-life”.
Frequently asked questions
What is effective life?
The expected life adjusted for condition – a well-kept machine lasts longer.
Why calculate a reserve?
So that replacement does not arrive as an unexpected cost but is provided for in the budget.
What if the machine is at the end of its life?
Compare repair, retrofit and a new machine with the “Repair, retrofit or replace” tool.
